Spring session for the 100 Kings has begun! Our Kings are working on various project-based competitions. This year, projects are centered around creative writing, STEM with an automotive focus, debate, and sustainability!

Our Kings closed out the Fall sessions with a bang! This trimester we focused on health & wellness + leadership with the help of our 100 Members and guest facilitators.

👑 We raised over $20,000 during the King Building Campaign!
👑 @live2aspire with @patrickwalkerreese hosted three sessions for our Gentlemen.
👑 Special thanks to Members of the 100 for facilitating workshops: Alfred Degrafinreid, James Tucker, Warren Chezare, Michael Carter, Billy Walker, Alfonzo Alexander, Terry Deas, Melvin Malone, & Ronald Roberts!
👑 Our Dukes experienced and learned about the practice of meditation.
👑 @tsu_c100 were heavily involved & continued developing bonds with our Kings.
👑 Many Kings Corner guest speakers, including: Adrienne Mayo, Byron Elam from @tndonorservices, Marcel be about change, Derek Quarles from @deloitte, and Reggie Blair from @cumberlandu!
👑 200+ middle & high school students served in 2024!

👑 Kicked off our fall sessions teaming up with My Brother’s Keeper for the Youth Empowerment Summit. @freddiefornashville was there to kickoff the event. Students, parents, and community members got to participate and learn in a variety of workshops!

👑 Health focused sessions - Students learned and participated in activities centered around health, including mental, physical, and emotional.

👑Thank you to our Fall Kings Corner speakers, which included members of the 100 and Collegiate 100, @royaltableinc, TN Health Dept, @mpfcomm, Dr. Jeffrey Upperman from Vanderbilt Medical Center, and Jonathan Hathaway.

👑Special thank you to all of our fall facilitators thus far: Tractor Supply, Dr. Andre Lee, Brandon Taylor from 40undational Fitness, Jasmine Gunn from @truxathletes, 100 Members @randyhoward1911 & Dr Walter Clair, @amend_together, @deloitte , & the TN Health Department.

This weekend, in collaboration with the Gamma Phi

This weekend, in collaboration with the Gamma Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. @gammaphiques and the sponsorship of Publix Charities, we hosted BarbeQUE for a Day event for our Kings and their families! Our Kings learned about brotherhood, perseverance, scholarship, and uplift. Kings explored those topics through obstacle courses, tug of war, and other games.

It’s been an incredible summer for our 100 Kings

It’s been an incredible summer for our 100 Kings! We wrapped up our final week with some really awesome experiences! Check out more details below: ⬇️

• @southern_word closed out with an open mic. Students were able to share some of their writing from the summer in front of their peers. It was incredible to hear from our Kings!

• @fristmed is opening to students this Fall! Our Kings had a rare opportunity to tour the Frist Medical College at @belmontu ! Special thank you to Caleb & @fristmedjerome for showing our Kings what could be their future!

• @careerlife_ led our students through aptitude testing, which showed our students which careers they’d be best fit for. Our Kings wrapped up with presenting their career findings!

• @super_saiyan_e led our Kings through weekly drawing sessions! Students finished their drawings and some even found new talents!

• Our 5th & 6th graders got real life work experience at Junior Achievement’s BizTown. Students were assigned jobs, had to cash checks, get loans, and lead businesses! It’s safe to say, our Kings had an awesome time!

• Our 7th & 8th graders experienced Junior Achievement’s Finance Park! Each student was randomly assigned a job, income, and family. From their students had to navigate finances to get insurance, groceries, entertainment, & more! It was an awesome learning experience!

• Special shoutout to our June & July birthday Kings!

• Congratulations to our perfect attendance award winners! To be a King means making a commitment to showing up & these students did so every single day this summer!

• Summer has wrapped up, but Fall programming is just around the corner! Applications for the 100 Kings program open this Monday, July 15th! Early application is highly suggested!

Week 4 was incredible! Check out details below about all our Kings did this week:

• Our Kings have weekly project based academic enrichment from certified teachers in English, Math, Science, and ACT prep.

• Black Men Run + Brown Boys Read returned to work with our Dukes (11th & 12th graders). They discussed their summer reading book, Monster by Walter Dean Myers.

• Our guest speakers this week were employees of Accenture and Derrick Hayes. @entietainer led our middle school students through a workshop to motivate & spark their creativity.

• Our Barons (9th & 10th graders) took a deeper dive into the results of their career aptitude tests with @careerlife_ leading the way. Students learned what careers would lean into their natural abilities and interests.

• With the help @fifththirdbank ‘s online platform, our students get to continue to build and grow their knowledge around finances and money.

• @southern_word leads our Dukes through weekly music production sessions. Students are learning the various aspects to developing a song.

• This week, our students visited long time partner, @deloitte and @nashvillepubtv for our field trips. At NPT students got to meet and talk with the CEO, learn about various careers, host and be interviewed by Slice of the Community host @jeromelmoore !

We’re officially at the halfway point of summer programming and our Kings are having a blast!
Check out some highlights from week 3:

• @tlc_nash & @bmrnashville led our 7th & 8th graders on a book discussion of the required summer reading and a 1.5 mile run! Together we’ll continue to develop a love of reading in all of our Kings!

• Communication & listening skills were put to the test as our students navigated @amend_together ‘s team building activities.

• Kings Corner provides our Kings with a chance to hear from various people, companies, and job opportunities. We were thrilled to have @kpmg lead Kings Corner this week.

• Our students had a chance to tap into their creativity with Creative Writing led by @southern_word. Students were able to write, develop, and share their writings with their fellow Kings.

• We closed out the week with our 2nd Annual Health & Wellness Day! Our students had sessions on:
>> Nutrition led by @prayandexercise
>> Dental Hygiene led by @meharrymedicalcollege
>> Physical Fitness led by @doerzfitness

Week 2 for our Kings is in the books!
• Black Men Run came in to help develop the love of reading and running. Our Kings discussed this week’s chapters of their summer reading while running 1.5 miles.
• Guest speakers this week included employees of KPMG, Nikki Garry of Resolve to Evolve, and college prep experts!
• The Kings creed is the affirmation our students begin and end the day with. YOU ARE KINGS. 👑
• Making progress already with guitar sessions! Who’s coming to the Kings concert?!
• Human knot requires communication and teamwork! Our middle schoolers did a great job working together to untangle themselves!
• Our Gentlemen & Knights got to tune up their boxing skills at Punches N Bunches boxing gym.
• Our Barons & Dukes had an opportunity to visit one of our long time partners, Tractor Supply!

First week of summer programming for the 100 Kings was filled to the brim with activities for our young men! We’re excited to see them exposed to new things this summer!

Our first annual Men’s Day was an incredible event! We had 40+ Black males made up of members of the 100, volunteers from our corporate and community partners, alumni, and more come in to engage in Kings Conversations! We closed out Men’s Day with field day. Flag football, volleyball, soccer, obstacle courses, & more! Our Kings had an incredible first week! 👑

The Kings are back in session! Due to weather, we had to start our semester virtually, but it was great to be back in person! This semester is packed with experiences for each of our cohorts. Swipe to check out what’s happening this Spring 👑

Pic 1: We celebrated our Gentlemen & Knights who completed their Young Bankers Club courses! These students have started building their knowledge on financial literacy.

Pic 2: Our Gentlemen are working on speech writing with the help of ToastMasters. Contrecia Tharpe opened their session showing them how to keep their audience engaged.

Pic 3: Our Knights working in teams with TSU’s SMART Center to develop an app. Of course @tsu_c100 came to assist!

Pic 4 & 5: Our Barons are deep in preparation for our Mock Trial competition. Member and volunteer attorneys came in to assist with their preparations.
